ABOUT TYLER HAYS:
Tyler Hays (b. 1968) is an artist and designer born and raised in rural northeast Oregon. He is most widely known for his work as the creator and designer behind the BDDW. Though he considers himself a painter first, he is also an obsessive builder, engineer, and inventor. He has worked in a broad expanse of mediums, from clothing and architecture to furniture, music, ceramics, and food. The foundation of his process is the understanding of the materials, science, and craft of a medium, and observing the alchemy and poetry while coaxing those things together into objects. Tyler’s work is shown exclusively in BDDW showrooms in NYC, London and Los Angeles (Nov 2023) and is manufactured in Pennsylvania. He received a BFA in painting from the University of Oregon.
